Architecturally Significant New Haven Building Sold

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADow Realty has brokered the sale of the prestigious building at 321 Whitney Avenue in New Haven to the law firm of Balzano & Tropiano PC for $1.2 million.
The 9,900 square foot building on the corner of Whitney Avenue and Edwards Streets is beautifully preserved and is the former headquarters location of Thompson and Peck Insurance. The building was built in the 1890’s and was known as the Atwater – Ciampolini House. It is one of the few remaining examples in New Haven of the “shingle style” house which is considered one of the forerunners of domestic American architecture. The magnificent woodwork and stone fireplaces of the building have been kept in excellent condition. The location is directly across from Yale University’s Peabody Museum.
The seller of the property was represented by Jim Bussmann of Dow Realty Company. The transaction assures that this property will continue in the hands of a firm that will preserve one of New Haven’s finer architectural assets.
Balzano & Tropiano is a New Haven based firm that specializes in personal injury trial law. The firm will relocate to Whitney Avenue from leased space on Audubon Street.
