Biotech Start-Up Takes Root in Branford

A former engineer from Roche/454 Life Sciences and Ion Torrent/Life Technologies has started a new company – Tangen Biosciences, LLC – and has settled in Branford. Jeff Dow, representing Massey Properties, leased a 6,000 SF office building at 780 East Main Street in Branford to Tangen Biosciences for lab development and business purposes.

Tangen Bioscience has developed a highly accurate instrument that provides rapid nucleic acid detection in a format that does not require laboratory resources or highly skilled operators. This provides very accurate results in a simpler and lower cost fashion than existing commercial technologies. Further, the instrument is portable and can deliver results in the field without having to send specimens to a laboratory.
